Goodreads Giveaway: Red Threads (and some pictures of the Red Arrows)

16 Jul

Last week was a great week. Not only has the weather in the UK been fantastic (in fact, I hear we have borrowed the sunshine from the US…) but I finished the first draft of the second, as yet untitled, Fateliner novel.

And on top of that, I received the paperback proof of Red Threads from Createspace. So, to celebrate the paperback edition of Red Threads being ready (and, more excitingly, approving the proof without having to make any changes!) I am giving away two copies through Goodreads. The giveaway runs from today, 16 July, through to Friday 26 July.

Red Threads proof

Here it is almost the second I opened the package…

It’s funny really because the words are still the same, but seeing my book in print is a lot more exciting than seeing it sitting on my Kindle (and that was exciting enough!). I still keep finding myself looking at it now, almost as if to check that it is a real thing and hasn’t disappeared from my desk like a mirage. It was DEFINITELY worth the formatting woes.

(Like all my formatting being changed overnight when I closed the file, for NO GOOD REASON. Seriously, even elements of the template that I hadn’t touched were miraculously being altered. By what? The only logical explanation is the pixies living inside my laptop, right?)

Changing the subject entirely for a moment, I went to the Wales Air Show on Saturday with my OH and saw the RAF Red Arrows.

2013-07-13 16.42.26 2013-07-13 16.43.25Depending on the formation, they were flying between 6 and 20 feet apart and at speeds of up to 400 mph–it was absolutely amazing. It’s just mind-blowing to think of the skill and practice involved in that kind of display.

Anyway, I hope your week has got off to a good start and you’re enjoying the summer (if you’re in the northern hemisphere, anyway!). Have you ever seen a display by the Red Arrows?

    Some skilled pilots!
There is something about holding one’s book that is just really awesome.

The Red Arrows are amazing. I’ve never seen as display, but I’d love to.

Sounds like your laptop pixies need a bit of a telling off, but I’m glad it worked out in the end – love the pic of you holding your book. :-) xx
